The Latest AI News for Interior Designers
While summer might slow some of us down, AI never stands still. Have you heard about Google’s plan to create a live camera-based interior assistant that walks with you through your clients’ spaces, visualizing anything you ask it to? Isn’t that crazy?
By the way: at the bottom of this newsletter, you’ll find this week’s free prompt for a serene Japandi interior. And a link to my free prompt guide, which explains how to work with the 6 best AI tools available right now.
Midjourney's newest version, V8.2
Midjourney V8.2
The brand-new Midjourney V8.2 introduces a more refined, editorial visual style that feels closer to high-end interior and design photography.
The new Draft Mode also makes it easier to explore ideas at an early stage. Instead of waiting for a small number of detailed renders, you can click the Draft Mode button and quickly generate 24 low-resolution concepts with just one prompt. See the image below.
Google is changing the way designers work
Google has been rapidly gaining ground in the race for the best AI tools for interior designers, alongside Midjourney’s consistently most artistic image-generating platform.
Not only with Google’s highly intelligent Nano Banana Pro and super-fast Nano Banana 2 Lite (Gemini 3.1 Flash Lite Image), which allow you to change fabrics, furniture, lighting—basically anything you want to change in your existing image—in just seconds.
But also the just-released Gemini Omni Flash, which not only lets you create stunning animations (short videos) of your most beautiful images, but also allows you to tell it what to change in the interior (materials, lighting, colors, etc.) right within the video!
Google's real-time camera sharing
But to me, the biggest NEWS is that Google will soon release its newest Gemini Live with real-time camera sharing.
Google Live already allowed us to open our camera in a room and discuss with Google Live what that room needs while walking around with or without our clients. “Google, what do you think about a seating area here, and what color there?”
But the soon-to-be-launched Gemini Live, with real-time camera sharing, lets you point your camera at a dull corner of that room and describe what you’d like to see there. This AI tool, integrated with Nano Banana Pro, then shows you live on your screen exactly what you’ve asked it to visualize or edit in the room. With your clients right beside you, they’ll obviously be very impressed by what you’re showing them :)
Prompt of the Week
Enough talk. Do you like the vibe in this super sharp image generated with Midjourney? It’s great for editorials like this one or for your social media posts. Use my prompt to create your own image with a similar look and feel. Don’t forget to turn on the “draft” toggle so Midjourney generates 24 images for you instead of just 4!
